*Shishimai means the dance of the lion. It's a traditional dance. In Japan, it is said that at the beginning of the 16th century, the lion head was created and this lion dance was performed for the first time to eliminate famine and disease in Ise (Mie Prefecture) during the New Year period. In the 17th century, this dance was transmitted to Edo (Tokyo) and established itself as the lucky charm. Nowadays, lion dancing is everywhere in Japan.
