Top page > Accessories > Japanese fans Japanses fansThere are two types of Japanese fans : sensu and uchiwa. Sensu means the folding fan in Japanese, while uchiwa means the round paper fan with a handle. As for our Japanese fans, the front of each fan is made from Mino washi Japanese paper with watermarks which express delicate patterns, and the back is made from ultra fine 9.5g/m2 Tosa tengujo Japanese paper. The raw material of Japanese Mino washi watermarked paper, used on the surface, is fiber which comes entirely from paper mulberry, and it is hand-made. The Japanese Tosa tengujo paper used on the reverse side is a product made by Hidaka Washi, which has the technology to produce ultra-fine Japanese Tosa tengujo paper, weighing less than 1g/m2, unprecedented in the world. In addition, the bamboo used for each fan is the local product in Japan, and a craftsman carries out the entire process, from collecting the bamboo to the end of making fans. |
