With motifs of birds Mitate Aoi Chidori*
*Inspired by motifs of kimono during Edo period, this design incorporates the unique expression mitate (comparison of something to another). It is inspired by the mallow (aoi), the symbol of the Tokugawa family, and represents the acquisition of great happiness. The chidori, a symbol of luck, victory, and fertility, is depicted transforming from bamboo into a swallow and taking flight, thus expressing victory through transformation.
